:: Audra's HP Fic Blog ::

So many fanfics... so little time. This blog is dedicated completely to the Harry Potter books and all things of the Potterverse. The main purpose will be for recording, reviewing, and recommending Harry Potter fanfiction, and posting HP news; as I can never find a good fanfic a second time, I want to be able to keep up with what I read. Like what you read? Got a fic you think I might enjoy? Email me, or post a comment -- and don't forget to review the fics for the authors!

I have been woefully neglectful of posting fic recs lately, partly because most of the fics I'm reading are off of the H/G Ficafest. To make it up to you guys, here's an uber-massive fic rec post!

Genre: R/Hr humor
Timeline: summer after OotP
Status: Standalone, complete
Reason blogged: "Grangers never dismiss challenges, they go straight for the molar."

Title: 'No Longer a Dream'
Author: BeeDaily
Archive: Checkmated.com
Genre: H/G humor, flangst
Timeline: sometime post-OotP
Status: Two chapters, complete
Reason blogged: "Luna says that the Greek Gods have taken a liking to me... something about the way I eat my bread.... I don't know."

Title: 'Say It With Socks'
Author: St. Margarets
Archive: SugarQuill
Genre: R/Hr flangst
Timeline: summer after OotP
Status: Standalone, complete
Reason blogged: "Good luck, young man -- your lady friend, she has quite a champion in you... I'm sure she will overlook the spattergroit." (Fic rec compliments of BasilM, ^_^)

Title: 'Your Very Own Dora'
Author: FernWithy
Archive: SugarQuill.net, fanfiction.net
Genre: young!Tonks & Remus Lupin, flangst
Timeline: takes place right after the deaths of James and Lily Potter, and Sirius' supposed murder of Peter Pettigrew.
Status: Standalone, complete
Reason blogged: sequel to 'The Doll Army', previously blogged; "...I tried to give myself bosoms last month, but it didn't work right and Mum told me that I wasn't allowed to morph that way until I actually have bosoms, and I don't know why I'd want to morph them then, if they were really there..."

For any of you who happen to be on LiveJournal -- there's a fanfiction challenge community for H/G that is still accepting challenges.

Harry/Ginny Fic-A-Fest is open to anyone, as long as you have a tolerance for H/G. Challenges have already been posted, and many already claimed. Just by looking through the challenge list, there are quite a few recognizable authors participating -- including several that have had stories blogged here.

If you write, I encourage you to claim a challenge before the deadline. If you're more interested in reading -- stories are already being posted, and so far they're all excellent.

Jack Ichijouji's 'Animal Instincts' is another one of those fics that I can't really summarize without ruining it for you. Suffice it to say that I started laughing as soon as I realized the direction in which it was headed, and the author's own summary does an excellent job:

Veterinary science has cured thousands of ailments for almost any type of creature imaginable. But veterinary science hasn't had to deal with the likes of Crookshanks.

Definitely worth the read, if only for the bits from Crookshank's poor feline perspective, ^_^

I'm blogging two fics from the same author in tandem, because I just couldn't choose between them. What can I say? Mosylu is just good, ^_^

'The Way He Kisses Me' is a fluffy one-shot that just makes me smile. It's one of those fics I like to go back and reread occasionally, just for the warm, fuzzy 'awwwww!' feeling. And I can totally see Hermione giving a vague, mysterious answer to such a personal question.

'The Dare' is much more recent -- and just outrageous. Remus/Tonks is one of my 'eh, maybe' ships, in that I'm sympathetic but not sold, by any means. But their interaction in this fic is sweet and hilarious -- as are the reactions of Hermione, Ginny, Ron, and especially Harry...

Title: 'The Way He Kisses Me'
Genre: fluffy, Ron/Hermione
Timeline: written pre-Ootp, but doesn't contradict canon outright
Status: Standalone, complete

Status: Standalone, complete

Another rec I've been hoarding jealously for sometime when I haven't found any good fics in a while.

Pooca's 'Just One Day' is a missing moment from the end of OotP. After the battle in the Department of Mysteries, Harry is whisked off to Dumbledore's office, but other kids are sent to the hospital wing. While Ron, Hermione, Luna, and Neville are unconscious or sleeping, Ginny attempts to come to terms with the events of the night.

Maybe this resonates with me that much more because I'm currently rereading the Department of Mysteries chapters in OotP. At any rate, it's nice to see a sympathetic depiction of Ginny struggling with things no fourteen-year-old girl should have to face, including her own feelings for Harry. Plus, it's a nice change from ALL-CAPS!Harry to seeing him finally accepting a bit of comfort.

In TOT's 'Patronus', Remus assigns his fifth year DADA classes an extra credit assignment: interview an Auror, and find out what kind of memories they call up when casting a Patronus charm. And naturally, Remus recommends Harry as a possible interviewee to one of his young Slytherin students.

The only problem is that Remus has neglected to consider what some of Harry's happiest memories might entail -- including the youngest Weasley.

Some great flashbacks, but the ending is the best. I can picture Harry and Remus having this discussion, and Ginny walking in... *lol*

Author: TOTS
Archive: Checkmated, Fanfiction.net
Timeline: post-Hogwarts, with flashbacks
Status: Standalone, complete
